ISO Standards for the Language Industry

A New Work Item Proposal (NWIP) is the starting point for the development of a standard

At a meeting in Copenhagen two NWIP's were discussed as being necessary and to follow the direction provided by the legal interpreting project, ISO 20771.

The medical/healthcare item has recently begun its development process by becoming the New Project for ballot phase whereas a German lead for conference interpreting still awaits the potential leader to be able to find the time to perform the necessary preliminary work.
 

Note: To be successfully launched, a NWIP has to achieve a majority vote from member countries in favour of the development, have a named project leader (and optionally also an editor) and at least five other countries naming participating experts
